Florida Cleft and Craniofacial Network is a statewide program achieved through the partnership of the Children's Medical Services of the Florida Department of Health, the University of Florida, families and other health care providers throughout the state.
Mission: To assist professionals and the families who care for children born with craniofacial differences; to educate and empower them with knowledge and understanding of the needs of children with cleft lip, cleft palate and other craniofacial conditions.

The Winter Symposium of the Florida Cleft Palate - Craniofacial Association (FCPA) will be held January 9 -11 of 2009.  Parents conference will be on 1/10/2009, however if interested, patients and their family members may attend the professional meeting also and there is no registration fee for patients and their family members. 

The key speaker for the professionals will be Dr Andrew Lidral. Dr Lidral is an associate professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Iowa. The focus of Dr. Lidral's research is craniofacial developmental genetics. Specifically, his goal is to identify the genetic causes of craniofacial birth defects, including syndromic and nonsyndromic forms of orofacial clefting. The program of the conference will be available later.

Parents Conference in Daytona Beach, FL

Parents Conference on Saturday January 10, 2009 during the Winter Symposium of the Florida Cleft-Craniofacial Association will take place at the same place: The Plaza Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach.  It will be informative and interesting. The tentative topics for the conference will be on speech & language, medical insurance and legal issues and the state services for the patients and families.

The organizers of the conference are planning to have free raffles for big ticket prizes!  Also they are planning to have a separate room for child care with activities for younger patients and their siblings. And a free lunch will be offered to the attending families.                                                                     There is no registration fee but you do need to register to attend.
